If you’re a writer, you know that somewhere between that knot in your stomach when an email comes in (another rejection; editors don’t care it’s your birthday) and that story you love that won’t seem to come together (guess it doesn’t love you back), writers can get a little close to the edge. In fact, they live there. Forget the tent and sleeping bag, they’ve got a whole house at the edge of that cliff (not a big house because, you know, writer). At any moment, they may lift up the window and jump. And friend, it’s your job to fling a lasso around their waist and haul them back up
